More Airway Registry Lessons

The Sydney HEMS Airway Registry monthly reveals successes and issues related to (primarily) intubation cases by the doctor/paramedic medical team. In this post, I summarize some of the high yield lessons from the discussion.

Included here is the importance of planning and training to efficiently manage common problems: such as a failed IV during RSI med administration, failure of the laryngoscope light, and ET tube cuff leak. Additionally, I comment on the oft-debated benefit:risk calculus of mechanical ventilation vs hand bagging post-intubation.
