Podcast Interviews
Wilderness and environmental medicine live! - December 2017
In Part 2 of this podcast, Helicopter SAR, I have a brief cameo as Dr. Darryl Macias interviews me as I am about to be hoisted in a screamer suit up into the Bernalillo County Metro Air Support Unit's Huey. The preceding material in Part 2, when the Chief Pilot of this Unit is interviewed about Helicopter SAR, is very insightful (apologies for the wind noise).
PJ MEDCAST - EPISODE 98 - rapid sequence airway
Doc Rush and I discuss the concept of Rapid Sequence Airway (RSA) - the primary placement of an extraglottic airway device (i.e. King, iGel, LMA) after induction with a sedative and paralytic. The concept holds great promise for the austere, low/no light, and helicopter environments that PJs may find themselves in, but may also have a role in the typical prehospital, HEMS, and ED environments.
PJ medcast - episode 99 - rsa and intro to special needs populations
Doc Rush and I finish our conversation of the applications of Rapid Sequence Airway and delve into an introductory discussion of medical care and rescue of Special Populations. Although PJs focus on trauma, their operational skill set and formal paramedic training makes the pararescueman the ideal rescuer for infants, children, geriatrics, the obese, the technology dependent and many others in a disaster/austere setting.
